Welcome to Dalat - Vietnam

Dalat VietnamLocated 200 km northeast of Ho Chi Minh and at an altitude of 1,500 meters, Da Lat has the appearance of an old French city. It was founded in 1897 when Doctor Alexandre Yesin recommended that the area be developed as a resort.

Da Lat has many natural and artificial such as Ho Xuan Huong, Than Tho, Da Thien and Tuyen Lam, which are all bordered by rows of pine trees, one of Da Lat’s best-known features. A trip to Da Lat is not complete without a visit to the Flower Garden. The temperate climate is suitable for orchids, roses, lilies, camellias and a wide variety of other flowers.

Tourists can go on from Da Lat to nearby Langbian Highlands, home to many ethnic minorities. Langbian Mountain’s highest peak (2,165 m) is very tempting for climbers. From Lom Bieng Klo peak, one can see endless green mountains reflecting the golden rays of the sun. There are many organized tours in the area, including parachuting and climbing.

Dalat Overview

Amongst the youngest cities in the nation; Dalat was founded by the French doctor, Alecxander Yersin, in 1893. Today it is the main city of Lam Dong province. Located on Langbian high lands, part of the greater Central high lands of Vietnam, the city is 305 km from Saigon; Dalat is known as both the City of Love and Le Petit Paris. The name Da Lat originates from the hill tribe people in this region. It literally means Stream of the Lat people.

The City of Eternal Spring has long been popular with Vietnamese and foreigners because of its flowers, weather, landscapes and tourist sites. Set next to Xuan Huong Lake, the Da Lat Flower Gardens are tended continually. Among the tastefully arranged flora are orchids, hydrangeas, fuchsias, roses, white narcissus, and ferns. The orchid, named “queen of the world of flowers”, is a common sight wherever you go in Da Lat. Annually, Da Lat explodes in a riot of color when its Flower Festival begins in October or sometimes December.

Da Lat Vietnam is known for its market gardens which grow everything from carrots and cauliflowers to avocados and bananas as well as many varieties of flowers. The market covers two blocks with more than 1,300 shops. On the ground floor of Block a merchants sell flowers, household appliances and other Da Lat specialties.

The area enjoys a mild climate, like an eternal spring, with beautiful views, waterfalls, lakes, pine forests, flower gardens and French - built villas. Dalat has many natural and artificial lakes such as Ho Xuan Huong, Than Tho, Da Thien, and Tuyen Lam bordered by lines of pine trees, which are a well-known feature of Dalat. Tourists get a deep impression of Da Lat’s tourists’ sites such as Bao Dai Summer Palaces, Crazy House, Langbian Mountain, Lat Village, Linh Son Pagoda, and Truc Lam Pagoda, Prenn Falls, Ponguor Waterfall…

For you have been to Da Lat and each bring their love of Dalat, the City of Love will help you have wonderful moments as you think about living between Dalat.
